Catching up on Leverage, starting at the top of Season 4. (up to ep 4) It is actually much better than I remembered S2 & 3 being, but theres still that awful thing where it simply has to hit you over the head with every connection, parallel, metaphor, influence and everything ever. It's still a fun show, but it means a lot of the sharp characterization that made it so good in the first place is a bit lost. Or, rather, a bit blown up.
Casting the WW2 flashbacks in episode 4 with the characters is just adding insult to injury here. One sharp, funny aside from Parker and a hint of a actual expression from Nate in response is a miles more interesting comment on his alcoholism than another looooong coversation with Sophie where they explain the emotional arc of the episode to the viewers. And is it just me, or has the show gotten really prudish about showing, like, y'know, kisses and things? Maybe it is just me and i've a dirty mind. Entirely possible.
