Kind of terrible yet kind of enjoyable. A lot of the dialogue in particular is hokey. ("Look, smoke!"/"I think it's a fire!",) and i'm more interested in the consequences of the dome arriving over this normal little town than I am in the towns already existing secrets and conspiracies being revealed, because who's like that? (Seriously, maybe it's an American thing? All I know about America I know from Hollywood, after all, so maybe your average American really does know any number of psycho stalkers, creepy priests, minor officials involved in weird conspiracies, men with mysterious pasts just passing through, etc, etc. I don't think I know any such people, but perhaps I lead a sheltered life.)

Also, the moment during the putting-out-the-fire bit when the interracial, over-educated, we're-from-LA, lesbian couple notes that they can't imagine their neighbours doing something like this (putting out a fire that threatens the entire town when there's an absolute certainty that no professionals are going to arrive and only after having been yelled at by law enforcement to do so) is completely risible, and possibly offensive.

But still strangely enjoyable, because it's just such a neat concept. I'm thinking I should just read the book, but I've yet to get through any Stephen King book i've ever picked up, though it's been a while.

New Kindle-touch has this thingy where it estimates how long it will take to finish the chapter/book. Is it weird that I find myself racing it?
