Amazon, Evil but Can-Do?

ONE HOUR....and counting on Skype with Amazon Kindle customer support (since like 6 AM, their time, for which I can only demonstrate mindboggled admiration) trying to ship a new kindle to Israel. They're trying to transfer me to the UK now, because it doesn't work from the US fdor some reason, though it worked fine from Kentucky last time.

Amazon's internal customer support appears to me to be structured in some truly Gormenghastian ways now, but they're always extremely nice and helpful and they always ship me new Kindles, so who am I to complain.  This, by the way, is to be Kindle #5 (well, 6 if we count the one that got lost in the Swedish tundra/postal system that one time,) all, somehow still on the same warranty. I guess the trick is...break 'em often?

A fellow kindle serial killer! I am also on number 6 (on one particular occasion I went through three in four weeks), although since it is now well out of warranty I treat this one with kid gloves. I do wish they'd make the screens marginally less breakable, alhoughmaybe that's not possible with current e-ink technology (and I do love the display).

I figure my warranty should have run out ages ago - it's going on, or possibly slightly past, two years. All I can figure out is that it got 'reset' or something with one of them.

It's usually the screen with me too, and I do love it - i'm wary of this stuff i've seen lately that dedicated ereaders are getting phased out in favour of tablets as reading devices. I love e-ink! Stay around! Yes, it's a niche, but it's a niche I very much occupy!
