I've only watched the last few seasons in bits and pieces, but that was mostly pretty great. Ridiculous, sure, and over the top, but there was heart there too. The layers of regret. The little Ten/Rose moments that stayed unsaid, she always behind him or over his shoulder. The bitterness and the hopefullness of the War Doctor. His annoyance with Ten and Eleven and their flakiness, their modernity, and yet. The older man looking at the younger men he would become, astonished to think that he still has that in him. Well, and aliens and plot and stuff, but I gave up on that ages ago.
