ONE HOUR....and counting on Skype with Amazon Kindle customer support (since like 6 AM, their time, for which I can only demonstrate mindboggled admiration) trying to ship a new kindle to Israel. They're trying to transfer me to the UK now, because it doesn't work from the US fdor some reason, though it worked fine from Kentucky last time.

Amazon's internal customer support appears to me to be structured in some truly Gormenghastian ways now, but they're always extremely nice and helpful and they always ship me new Kindles, so who am I to complain.  This, by the way, is to be Kindle #5 (well, 6 if we count the one that got lost in the Swedish tundra/postal system that one time,) all, somehow still on the same warranty. I guess the trick is...break 'em often?

Well, thats a rejection (albeit a rather nice one) from Beneath Ceaseless Skies for the Story With The Communist Mermaids.  Off it goes to Clockwork Phoenix in the nick of time. It's the second we-liked-it-but-not-quite rejection this story has racked up, with vaguely similar comments, but i'm kind of unwilling to tinker with it . I feel like addressing what they're bringing up would be a compromise - I don't want to spell out the ending. OTOH, maybe it's just thin writing. I did struggle with the ending and ended up cutting a scene i'd initially planned to put in because it suddenly seemed redundant, but it wasn't about the stuff they bring up either. Fortunately, there was no time to angst about it now since the CWP deadline is today. I'll angst about when they reject it.
