I Need Elephants Now
Apr. 17th, 2013 11:41 pm( Knitting )I finished a shawl! I started it like four years ago for a friend, put it aside, because i'm a terrible friend, and discovered last week I still have it and finished it (fortunately, I also still have the friend.) I wonder if I should block it? I've never tried blocking before, but it seems like it could benefit from it, but I also seem to recall it doesn't do much for synthetics, which this is at least half. (It's mostly reclaimed yarn from free-market sweaters and left-overs from a Ravenclaw scarf.) Also wondering if I should add a fringe...
Obsessiveness: Theres weird, sad Community/Big Bang Theory fic out there, right? If there isn't, i'm going to have to write it, and I have papers to hand in, ffs.
Conversation with my sister:
Me: "Let's watch something"
Her: "How about Hannibal?"
Me: "Maybe, is it good?"
Conversation somehow gets sidetracked. Probably my fault. Five minutes later:
Her: "Ok, so, Hannibal? It's based on one of the early Hannibal Lecter books..."
Me, grinding to a screeching halt: "What? It's not about crossing the Alps with elephants?"
Her: "Of course it isn't. It's really good, let's watch it."
Me: "Does it have elephants?"
Her: "Um, no."
Me: "Then don't be absurd! It has no elephants! I can't watch anything with no elephants now!"
I had set my heart on some sort of deranged, Spartacus style Punic wars historical thing. Hannibal Lecter was never going to live up to that.
