I did a stupid thing. I drank three cups of coffee. I normally average about a cup a month, and I don't drink coke or even tea (just herbal stuff. Rarely actual tea.) I'm all twitchy and my eyes are open too wide. Anyone have anything they want to talk about? I'm here! Probably all night.

I don't feel like writing, even though I know I should - I've managed a couple hundred words, and I think that'll be it for the night. Enough to get the scene started so I can work on it next week.

What are you working on?

I actually did about a thousand words of totally new, original story that sparked off of a random forum comment someplace, which is the first non-fic writing i've done in months, (actually I haven't done much fic in weeks either) Of course, adding *another* unfinished short story to the collection is probably not a great idea, but it still felt good.

Also, I need to finish my Galentine's day story!

A DS9 AU exploring a non-GE Bashir through nonhuman characters' points of view. It's one of those fics that I really wanted to have read, nobody had done it yet, and it fell to me to fill the fandom gap. I'm enjoying it, even the frustrations, except on nights when I have the time but no energy. Like this one.

I keep thinking that if it isn't big and meaty by the time it's finished, I'll have done something wrong. I feel like I don't have much margin for error when it comes to Getting This Right - at least once I'm done with the first draft, at any rate. Which will take a few months, at the rate I'm going.
